Cornwall Council’s waste contractor SITA is to lodge an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate over the Council’s March 2009 refusal of its Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre (CERC) planning application.
>
Cornwall Council Executive Member for the Environment, Julian German said: “The Council will watch with interest to see how SITA addresses the points cited by Cornwall Council’s Planning Committee in March, when refusing the application.”
>
It is anticipated that there will be a public inquiry in the first half of 2010 at which a Government Inspector will hear evidence. Details will be announced by the Planning Inspectorate when an Inspector is appointed.
A special meeting to brief members of the Council in advance of the announcement was held at County Hall today.
